April showers bring unique May flowers!

From first shoots to seed pods, spring forest flowers are an important part of the forest ecosystem. Blossoming before trees leaf-out allows these early plants to photosynthesis and the blooms are perfectly timed with the emergence of the first spring insects.

These early spring flowers are a delight to find, and exploring their unique form and structure provides clues to the amazing role these beautiful plants have in the forest.
